Saplings Contracting

Yards built from the ground up.

Saplings Contracting designs, plants, paves and maintains outdoor spaces. One crew handles the planting beds, the patio and the retaining wall, so the whole yard drains, grows and wears the way it should.

What we do

Everything outside the walls of the house.

Two kinds of work, done by one crew: the soft stuff that grows and the hard stuff that lasts. Then a Saplings Care program keeps both looking right.

Design drawings

See it on paper before we dig.

We put the design down on paper first, so you can see the plan, adjust it and price it before any work starts. You keep the drawings either way.

Why it lasts

Most of a good patio is the part you never see.

  1. Dig deep enough

We excavate below the frost-heave zone for your area and remove organic soil that would settle.

  2. Build the base in lifts

Gravel goes in a couple of inches at a time and gets compacted at each layer. Skipping this is why patios sink.

  3. Pitch it away from the house

A slope of about 2% (a quarter inch per foot) moves rainwater off the surface and away from your foundation.
